Field Notes

Studies reveal that the frill of the Frilled Lizard is supported by cartilage and can double its visual size instantly a highly effective defense mechanism. These lizards are known to run at speeds of up to 10 meters per second, allowing swift escape from predators. Interestingly, partial frill displays are also used in social signaling such as during courtship or territorial warnings known as "semi-threat displays."

In captivity, proper light cycles and temperature gradients are essential for maintaining healthy rhythms. Their high interactivity makes them ideal observation species among medium-to-large lizards.
