黑樹巨蜥（Black Tree Monitor）是全世界爬蟲玩家公認最帥氣的物種之一。牠們全身覆蓋著充滿光澤的黑色鱗片，這不僅是為了帥氣，更是為了在茂密的雨林中快速吸收熱能。與一般笨重的地棲巨蜥不同，黑樹巨蜥身形修長、動作敏捷，宛如一道黑色閃電穿梭於樹梢之間。牠們聰明的眼神與高度的互動性，讓飼養牠們的感覺更像是在養一隻帶有鱗片的貓或小猴子。

飼養與生活習性

喜好溫度：極度熱愛高溫。曬點（Basking Spot）需達 40-50°C，且必須提供強烈的 UVB 燈光。
主要食物：肉食性；以蟋蟀、杜比亞蟑螂為主食，偶爾可給予水煮蛋、雞肉或乳鼠作為獎勵。
個性特徵：初期較神經質（Nervous），但智商極高。透過耐心互動（Trust feeding），牠們能成為非常信任主人的寵物。
活動時間：日行性；白天活動力極強，喜歡在籠內攀爬探險。
環境建議：高度是關鍵。需要高聳的樹棲飼養箱，內部需鋪設軟木背板（Cork bark）供其抓握攀爬。

The Black Tree Monitor (Varanus beccarii) is widely recognized by reptile enthusiasts as one of the sleekest species in the world. They are covered in glossy black scales—a trait evolved not just for style, but for rapid heat absorption in the dense rainforest. Unlike bulky ground-dwelling monitors, the Black Tree Monitor is slender and agile, moving through the canopy like a streak of black lightning. Their intelligent gaze and high level of interactivity make keeping them feel more like owning a scaled cat or a small monkey.

Care & Behavior

Ideal Temperature: Extremely heat-loving. The Basking Spot must reach 40-50°C, and strong UVB lighting is mandatory.
Primary Diet: Carnivorous (Insectivorous); staples include crickets and Dubia roaches. Occasional treats can include boiled eggs, chicken, or pinky mice.
Personality: Nervous at first, but highly intelligent. Through patient interaction (trust feeding), they can become pets that deeply trust their owners.
Activity Cycle: Diurnal; highly active during the day, loving to climb and explore every corner of the enclosure.
Habitat Tips: Height is key. Requires a tall arboreal enclosure lined with cork bark backgrounds to allow for gripping and climbing.

Field Notes

The most astounding feature of the Black Tree Monitor is its "tail." While most monitor tails are used for swimming or defensive whipping, the Black Tree Monitor's tail is twice the length of its body and possesses fully prehensile capabilities. When handled, you will distinctly feel its tail wrapping tightly around your arm like a bracelet—their safety line when moving through the canopy.

Additionally, their claws are sharp and hook-like (often described as Velcro-like), allowing them to easily grip any rough surface. The most rewarding part of keeping them is the "taming" process—watching them go from shy and hiding to actively jumping onto you for food offers an incomparable sense of achievement.

黑樹巨蜥很兇嗎？會咬人嗎？

牠們通常不兇，而是「害羞」或「神經質」。遇到威脅時傾向逃跑而非攻擊。但因為爪子非常銳利（為了攀爬），互動時建議修剪指甲或穿著長袖，以免誤傷。
They are rarely aggressive, mostly just shy or flighty. They prefer to flee rather than bite. However, their claws are sharp, so protective clothing is advised.

牠們會長到多大？

全長約 90-100 公分，聽起來很大，但其實有三分之二都是細長的尾巴。身體本體其實不大且修長，是非常節省空間的中型巨蜥。
Total length is about 90-100cm, but 2/3 of that is their long tail. Their actual body size is slender and modest.

黑樹巨蜥吃什麼？

牠們是完全肉食性（食蟲為主）。主食建議為蟋蟀、杜比亞蟑螂。因為代謝非常快，活動量大，建議每天或隔天餵食一次，並定期補充鈣粉。
