巨人守宮（Leachie Gecko）是目前世界上體型最大的現存守宮。牠們擁有如絲絨般寬鬆的皮膚，抱起來就像抱著一個柔軟的熱水袋，是爬蟲玩家心目中的終極夢幻物種。

原生於新喀里多尼亞，依產地分為支島（如 Pine Island）與主島（Grand Terre）兩大品系。

巨人守宮（Leachianus Gecko）常被玩家暱稱為 "Leachie"。在當地的傳說中，因為牠們巨大的體型與夜晚低沉的叫聲，被稱為樹上的惡魔，但對爬蟲愛好者來說，牠們卻是溫柔的綠色泰迪熊。牠們最大的魅力在於那身彷彿穿了「大兩號睡衣」的寬鬆皮膚，觸感柔軟細膩，加上成體後那份沉甸甸的份量感，上手互動的滿足感是其他守宮無法比擬的。

飼養與生活習性

喜好溫度：極度怕熱，維持 22–28°C 最為舒適，超過 30°C 會有危險。
主要食物：雜食性；食量驚人，以果泥飼料（CGD）為主食，成體可偶爾餵食乳鼠補充蛋白質。
個性特徵：具有明顯的領域性（Cage Aggressive），在籠內可能會守衛領土，但取出後通常會變得冷靜溫馴。
活動時間：夜行性；白天隱藏在樹洞或軟木管中，夜晚出來巡視領地。
環境建議：需要「巨大」的飼養箱。建議提供大型中空的軟木樹洞（Cork Bark）作為牠們的安全避風港。

生態觀察筆記

巨人守宮的皮膚構造非常特殊，那些看似多餘的皺褶其實是高明的偽裝術。當牠們平貼在佈滿苔蘚的樹幹上時，寬鬆的皮瓣能消除身體邊緣的陰影，讓牠們瞬間與樹皮融為一體。

此外，牠們是極少數會形成「長期配偶關係」的守宮。一旦配對成功，公母會共同守衛領地，甚至會透過聲音相互呼應。飼養巨人守宮最大的樂趣，除了感受牠們成長過程中的巨大變化外，就是聆聽牠們在深夜裡豐富的「語言」交流。

Devil in the Trees? A Gentle Giant.

The New Caledonian Giant Gecko, commonly known by hobbyists as the "Leachie." In local legends, due to their massive size and low-pitched nightly calls, they are called the "Devil in the Trees." However, to reptile enthusiasts, they are gentle green teddy bears. Their greatest charm lies in their loose skin, which looks like they are wearing "pajamas two sizes too big." It feels soft and velvety, and combined with the substantial weight of an adult, the satisfaction of handling one is unmatched by any other gecko.

Care & Behavior

Ideal Temperature: Extremely heat sensitive. 22–28°C is optimal. Temperatures above 30°C are dangerous.
Primary Diet: Omnivorous; voracious appetite. Staples include Commercial Gel Diet (CGD). Adults can occasionally be fed pinky mice for protein.
Personality: Can be "cage aggressive," guarding their territory inside the enclosure. However, they usually become calm and docile once removed.
Activity Cycle: Nocturnal; they hide in tree hollows or cork tubes during the day and patrol their territory at night.
Habitat Tips: Requires a "massive" enclosure. Large hollow cork bark rounds are highly recommended as secure hiding spots.

Field Notes

The skin structure of the Leachie is unique; those seemingly excess folds are actually a brilliant camouflage technique. When flattened against lichen-covered trunks, the loose skin flaps eliminate shadows along the body's edge, allowing them to blend instantly with the bark.

Furthermore, they are among the few geckos that form "long-term pair bonds." Once paired, the male and female defend their territory together and even communicate through vocalizations. Beyond witnessing their massive growth, the greatest joy of keeping Leachies is listening to their rich "language" exchange deep in the night.

巨人守宮會長多大？

這取決於產地（Locality）。支島型（如 Pine Island）較小，約 25-30 公分；主島型（如 Grand Terre）則為巨無霸，可達 35-43 公分，體重極具份量。

聽說牠們很兇？會咬人嗎？

牠們有很強的「籠內領域性」（Cage Aggression），手伸進去時可能會被威嚇或試圖驅趕。但一旦將牠們帶出飼養箱，通常會變得很冷靜。
They can be "cage aggressive" and defend their territory. However, they are usually calm and docile once removed from their enclosure.

巨人守宮吃什麼？

主要吃果泥飼料（CGD），因為體型大，食量也很大。成體可以偶爾餵食乳鼠或杜比亞蟑螂來補充蛋白質與鈣質。
Mainly CGD (Fruit mix), and they eat a lot! Adults can be offered pinky mice or Dubia roaches occasionally for extra protein.

需要多大的飼養箱？

越大越好。成體建議至少使用 60x45x90cm 以上的網籠或玻璃缸，並設置粗大的樹幹與隱蔽的軟木樹洞供其棲息。
The bigger, the better. Adults need at least 60x45x90cm vertical enclosures with large cork bark tubes for hiding.

適合新手飼養嗎？

飼養難度本身不高（溫濕度與睫角類似），但因為「單價高」、「壽命長」且「需要大空間」，建議有一定經濟基礎與承諾的飼主飼養。
Care is similar to Crested Geckos (easy), but due to high cost, long lifespan, and space requirements, they are better for committed keepers.
