Varanus reisingeri, commonly known as Reisinger's Monitor, is an arboreal lizard native to Misool Island, Indonesia. It belongs to the Varanus prasinus complex, renowned for its intelligence, vivid coloration, and graceful movements among the treetops.Recognized by its bright yellow scales patterned with fine black lines, this monitor represents one of the rarest morphs of the Green Tree Monitor group.

Ecological Notes

Reisinger’s Monitor is diurnal and arboreal, thriving in humid tropical forests. It uses its long prehensile tail for balance while climbing and hunting insects or small vertebrates. Studies indicate this species evolved through island isolation, sharing ancestry with other tree monitor species within the prasinus complex.
